NPHS THEATRE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS TRAP
NORTH PLATTE, NE, April 11, 2022 -- North Platte High School Theatre Department will present TRAP on May 6th and 7th at 7:00 pm. This suspenseful thriller will be sure to keep you glued to your seat until the very end of the show.
With 37 students on stage and five leading the technical aspects of the performance, rehearsals have looked a bit chaotic, but things are going well. “This show has combined a bunch of different kids that maybe haven’t worked together before but it’s going really well. It’s been fun to watch everyone come together in such a short time.” Junior Joseph Roeder said, when asked about the process with a new director, Brittany McDaniel. Junior Dana Sorenson says, “This play is full of suspenseful twists and turns that make this show a lot of fun to perform! Seeing these characters come to life through rehearsal has made us all really excited to perform in front of an audience!”
McDaniel had originally planned on producing this show in May of 2020, with her Advanced Acting class but COVID stopped the show the day after the cast list came out. “I knew I wanted to give it another shot but the timing just hasn’t been right. When I moved into the play production head coach this spring, I knew I needed to dust it off and finally give it a shot.” says McDaniel. “People keep asking what it’s about and I had to tell the cast we needed to be careful and not spoil the ending. The most I can give you is what it says on the back of the script.” It reads “An incomprehensible event: Every person in the audience of a high school play falls unconscious –every person but one. Using interviews with witnesses, loved ones, first responders, and the investigators pursuing the case, a theatre ensemble brings the story to life, documentary-style. But as the strands weave together into an increasingly dangerous web, it becomes clear that this phenomenon might not be entirely in the past. Unnerving, exhilarating, and wildly inventive, you’ve never walked into anything quite like TRAP.”
Admission is $5 at the door.
